With many CUNY students and faculty preparing to start classes in person in the fall, a COVID-19 surveillance testing contract was discussed on July 21 in a virtual meeting held by the CUNY Board of Trustees.
As part of the contract, with Applied DNA Labs, LLC, there will be routine testing for unvaccinated individuals who are not currently suffering COVID-19 like symptoms in order to detect transmission hot spots or characterize disease trends. There will also be random testing of both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals to help determine the prevalence of COVID-19 variants.
